报告人简介

 

Michael J. Sailor is a Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry and the Leslie Orgel Scholar at the University of California, San Diego. He holds Affiliate appointments in the Department of Bioengineering, the Department of Nanoengineering, and the Materials Science and Engineering program at UCSD. He received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Harvey Mudd College (Claremont, CA), and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Chemistry from Northwestern University (Chicago). In 1990 he joined the faculty in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego, after post-doctoral studies at Stanford and the California Institute of Technology. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1994, to Full Professor in 1996, and to Distinguished Professor in 2015. He has supervised more than 150 undergraduate, graduate, and post-doctoral students at UC San Diego. He is the author of more than 200 research publications, one book, and 25 patents. He has founded three companies and serves/has served on the scientific advisory boards of six others.

研究兴趣:

Professor Sailor’s research focuses on nanotechnology, with emphasis on biomaterials, drug delivery, and environmental sensing applications. He is an expert in the chemistry, electrochemistry, and optical properties of nanomaterials, in particular porous silicon-based systems.
